The Hotel Le Couvent Royal is based in Provence and adjoins the Basilica of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume.
The Basilica of Saint-Maximin and the convent are the most beautiful Provencal Gothic structures in the South-East of France. They were built in 1295 by Charles II, King of Sicily and Count of Provence, to house the relic of Saint-Marie-Madeleine whose tombs was discovered here in 1279.
Today, this site is classified as an « Historical monument » transformed into an hotel with 67 rooms each with views of the Cloisters or garden. The hotel has several meeting and conference rooms, a brasserie, a bar and a restaurant.
We hereby inform you that the Var Department, which owns the Hotel Couvent Royal of Saint-Maximin, will effect renovation work on the roof for a period of 4 months commencing on 21st May 2018.
The hotel, the restaurant and the brasserie remain open and guests will have undisturbed access to the cloisters and the garden.
Management and staff will ensure that your stay at the hotel is not affected by the renovation work.
